Production

Stages in producing a film:

 ·         Stage 1 –Development; planning scripting, storyboarding etc.
For example: The script for ‘The Hangover’ was written by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore and supervised by Kerry Lyn Mckissick.

 
·         Stage 2-Pre-production; Budgets, cast & crew.
For example: In the ‘Hangover’ there were many actors who had roles in this film, some of those were, Bradley cooper as Phil Wenneck, a teacher. Ed Helms as Dr.Stu Price, a dentist. Zach Galifanakis as Alan Garner etc.

During pre-production, ‘The Hangover’ had a $35 million budget for the 15 Days photography which was taken place in Nevada.

 
·         Stage 3-Production; Shooting of the film/ Recording.
For example: The shooting of ‘The Hangover’ took place in Nevada, Las Vegas, USA.

It took 15 days to film it and it is 100 mins long.

 
Distribution/Marketing

A film gets distributed, when the film is completely finished and edited. It gets sent to a company for example: ‘The Hangover’ got distributed by Warner Bros. Then the buyers negotiate and make an agreement that suites both parties e.g. the company and the makers of the film. The film then gets released by following ways:
-Theatre
-Posters
-Trailers
-Reviews
-Social media such as Facebook, twitter, MySpace etc.
-Radio interviews
Etc.

 
The film gets its publicity when more and more people watch it, and it gets passed around. The thing that catches the audience’s attention, are the following:
-Entertaining throughout
-Not too expensive
-Good/Known Actors
-Not too long
-Unique
-Good quality
-Based at most common audiences

Exhibition


-Advertisements e.g.motorways,buses/underground, internet, youtube, food products such as coca cola, biscuits etc.
-Release it out to the theatre/cinema
-Dvd/video
-Word of Mouth
